USA DJ Training was founded in Philadelphia in 2021 by working DJs who understand that it's almost impossible to learn DJing using online courses and videos. What began as a 500-member student group training program at the University of Pennsylvania has grown into the country's most widespread hands-on DJ school operating in nine cities, including Columbus, focused on turning complete beginners into confident, performance-ready DJs.
We have trained hundreds of students using a carefully structured curriculum that breaks DJing down to its fundamentals. Every concept is reinforced through practical exercises behind the decks. Our certified instructors are working DJs who have years of experience in the industry and are passionate about teaching the skills they've learned.
While we focus on training DJs with the depth of skill and musical control expected in pro club environments, our course is also perfect for anyone who just wants to have fun, level up their DJ skills, throw better parties, impress their friends, and enjoy expressing themselves through music without any pressure to go pro! That being said, many of our students have gone on to perform at venues and hold residencies at the biggest nightclubs across the country.
Our curriculum, on Pioneer DJ® equipment, takes you from beginner to gig-ready.
By the end of the course, you'll know how to operate club-standard gear, build a setlist in Rekordbox, and mix clean transitions with phrasing + EQ.
DJing Background
Learn about vinyl, CDJs, and the history of modern mixing equipment. Master song selection by key, genre, and BPM. Become an artist of set design and controlling musical atmosphere and energy.
Equipment
Discover the functions of the modern Pioneer DJ® club mixer and deck. Learn about input devices, and how sound is created.
Software
Choose the right software for your interests. Understand the difference between Serato and Rekordbox, compared to other tools on the market.
Beatmatching
Learn how to count beats, about the basic structure of songs in various genres, and about the fundamentals of beatmatching. Learn phrasing, cueing, and nudging.
EQ & Music Theory
Discover the components of a song, how EQ can be used to create fullness in the mix and master smooth transitions. Master harmonic mixing, the Camelot wheel, and musical moods.
Loops, FX & Your First Performance
Master looping with slip mode, in transitions, and with EQ. Discover Beat & Color FX, and learn to use them to elevate your first performance. Record a promo-ready set to share with your friends and family.

Pro DJing Fundamentals
In-studio, hands-on training. Begin with a low-commitment 2‑hour taster, then continue into a 5‑week, 10‑hour small-group course that takes you from zero to your first confident performance. Typical group size of 3.
- Go from complete beginner to confident, gig-ready DJ
- 10 hours of training over 5 weeks (5 × 2‑hour sessions)
- Your first 2‑hour “First Transition” lesson is a standalone taster — no long-term commitment required
